About Bruce

A wood and metal artist based out of Round Top, Texas, Bruce started working with his hands at a young age, picking up both welding and woodworking in high school. He quickly fell in love with the craft.  Bruce has used these skills throughout his career, building ornamental iron fences and gates, handrails, carports, and walkways all over Houston and the surrounding area, as well as building boats and boat trailers, and even welding small aircrafts.

Why I do What I do...

Why Round Top, Texas

Festival Institute
The tiny hamlet of Round Top, Texas (pop. 90), is located in the heart of Texas Bluebonnet country.  Half way between Austin and Houston, this quaint little town of bed and breakfasts, quirky antique shops, wonderful restaurants, and numerous art galleries, also boasts of a world class classical musical venue, Festival Institute, where young musicians gather in the summer to perform at this magnificent replica of a Bavarian opera house.  Just down the road in Winedale, the University of Texas Shakespeare troupe performs in a replica of the Globe Theatre.
Twice a year (and sometimes more often, this little town is home to one of the largest antique shows in the country.  For two weeks in April and October, spanning for miles down Highway 237, the Round Top Antique Show brings vendors and artists from all over the world to showcase their pieces.

This mix of country life and the sophistication of art, music and cuisine is the perfect blend of inspiration for artists!  You can find Bruce and his art at Henkel Square Market at this spring's show!

Life on the Farm

We live on 200 acres about four miles outside of Round Top. It is mostly wooded and we enjoy watching the deer and cows. We raise chickens for fresh eggs and have a miniature donkey named Banjo. Kiai, our German Shepherd, especially loves riding the atv and swimming in the pond.

The Amazing Sara

My beautiful wife Sara works as an Oil and Gas Landman and has done so since 1995. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spoiling our grandson, Brandon. In addition to that, she loves to spend time in the garden and prepare meals with our homegrown produce.

Round Top Treasures

We have discovered lots of treasures in Round Top throughout the years. We once found two huge solid Walnut doors that date back over a hundred years that I made into a sliding door for our bedroom. We bought a teakwood root table from the east that we put on the porch. We have a beautiful solid walnut table that dates back over a hundred years that I made into our dining table. We picked up a coffee table that I made into a door for our AC return air. These are just a few items that I have repurposed for our log cabin in Round Top.

A Day in the Life...

Life is great living in Round Top. My wife generally works from home so we spend lots of time together on the farm with our German Shepard Kiai. My days are spent working in my shop creating artwork. Creating something that will be treasured is my passion. I also love riding around the farm or walking in the creek looking for that special piece of wood to create one of a kind art pieces.
